Background
The Soft Note Combo, founded in September 1996 by trumpeter Luis Trevino,
has been entertaining audiences throughout the Tennessee Valley in music festivals,
restaurants, wedding receptions, and private corporate parties. Since their debut at
Cesars Italian Cafe in Madison Alabama, the band has evolved from playing jazz to a
variety of music, including vocals and Latin percussion. The styles of jazz, pop,
boleros, bossa novas (Brazilian jazz), guajira, and soft rock are predominantly performed
in their performances. Including some originals, cover tunes performed by the Soft Note
Combo include those by Herb Alpert, Santana, Duke Ellington, and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Instrumentation
The band performs as a quartet and occasionally as a trio utilizing the instrumentation
of vocals, trumpet, electric bass, keyboard or guitar, drum kit, congas, and an assortment
of Latin percussion: maracas, clave, Cuban guiro, and shakers. Although the band
members are now based in the Tennessee Valley, they bring their wealth of culture
and musical experiences from abroad. Coupled with the jazz roots of
the other musicians, the overall presentation of the band is indeed unique.
